The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Mental Health of Healthcare Workers

Aim: The Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been potentially affecting the mental health of healthcare workers (HCWs) especially frontline due to isolation and loss social support, risk transmission friends relatives. We aimed evaluate status during with General Health Questionnaire-28 (GHQ-28). Materials Method: This was a single-center, cross-sectional study population 250 at Baskent University. GHQ-28 scale used detect disorders in participants. online questionnaire transferred via official email data were analyzed descriptive statistics, Kruskal–Wallis, Mann-Whitney U tests, multiple logistic regression analysis. A p-value <0.05 set as statistically significant confidence interval 95% level. Results: Of respondents (n=250), 66% (n=165) women 61% between 20-45 years, 63.2% married. Compared second line (n=196), (n=54) had higher prevalence somatic symptoms (p<0.01), anxiety/insomnia depression (p<0.01). Multiple analyses showed that younger age (≤55 years), female gender being more likely have problems Conclusion: Evaluating HCWs providing psychological support are essential increase professionals’ ability manage process.
